I really appreciated the scan speed and the multi select feature.

Easily found gigabytes worth of duplicated files on my Mac. Need to be careful that the duplicate wasn’t intentional (like UserA saves a copy in UserA Documents, and UserB saves the same thing in UserB Documents). It’s reasonably quick. It provides a list of all duplicate files, and you can check which version to delete, OR you can “multiselect” all so you don’t have to click each one. Additionally, there is a “safety” mechanism in that the duplicates are MOVED to the trash. You can always pull them out of the trash if you’ve made a mistake (nicely done!) up until you empty the trash. It’s not flashy, but it got the job done efficiently and accurately as far as I can determine. Its exactly what you hope to find when downloading freeware. I’d recommend it.

Trying version 1.1.0 now. Love the interface, but it only seems to scan one folder at time. In other words, if I drag and drop a folder, it starts the scan. I cannot drop a second folder. Or, if I use Select Folder, it only lets me choose one folder. I cannot select multiple folders. Why does that matter? I have two external drives. I can scan one or the other, but not both at the same time. So, if the two drives have the same file, this program will not find the duplication. Am I missing something? All of the other programs I’ve used will let you scan multiple folders (on multiple drives).

Great app - I needed to quickly make space on a backup drive and I didn’t want to manually sort through the files. I found this app after some research on the App Store, and was totally pleased with the amount of space it cleared up but mostly with the speed and ease of doing so. My only suggestion would be to allow it the ability while using multi-select to select files that are most likely duplicates from the same date or time. For instance, I had a folder “AIFFS” and a subfolder “AIFFS/instrument sounds” - Some of the files chosen using multi-select were from the AIFFs folder and some from the AIFFs/Instrument Sounds folder. I would have liked multi-select to choose all the duplicates in the AIFFs folder so I could leave the instrument sounds folder intact. Very useful app, highly recommended except for this one UI tweak. If i could pay for it I would. Is there a way to donate?

This app is unbelieveable!!! I’m building an app of my own and I had more duplicates than you could imagine…this cleared em’ all! I would actually pay for something like this, but I don’t have to because it’s 100% free! Thank you to whomever built this!

After downloading the start-up was quick. I set aside 20 munites and Duplicates Cleaner produced 3.4 Gigs of duplicate data. Wow! Thanks.

I just installed this a few days ago and i couldn’t be happier. I had previously installed two different photo duplicate cleaner apps and neither worked as described and both were a complete pain to use. This one does what those didn’t and it’s so simple to use! I had so many multiples because i use my laptop to transfer all my info from several other devices. It literally cleared up months of mess in just a few minutes. I recommend this to everyone, especially, as a photo cleaner which everyone seems to struggle with. I will certainly re-review if I should have any problems with this later.

Duplicates Cleaner works very well for all sorts of files; it works exceedingly fast too. I especially like that it allows tha user to select certain file extensions to exclude from search, which prevents scanning of select batch files. What I found interesting is that it will not scan files in the Macbook’s Photo Library - if it does scan, it is not finding any duplicates, though I can see form the finder that there are, in fact, duplicate photos. I’m not sure if this is an issue with the Photo Libray not being an actual file folder, but it doesn’t work for me with the Photo Libray.

I am very happy with this incredibale easy to use software . Thank u guys , I am recomending it to every person who has mac and does photo ,file download and has duplicates. Thank u again apple for choosing it. I did try three others and were not easy to use or i did not see it. It does most of the work for u in less than a second. BABAJUNE

I was waiting for “the catch,” as in, “will I have to pay to actually use it. The answer was no. I’m not sure why these folks are offering this product for free, or how—including what appears to be support for it. Are they trying to put the other (paid) guys out of business? Anyway, before you pay for a dub finder/remover, try this one first.

Perfect little pop up that will not leave me alone when I use the Disk Cleanup Pro. OKKKKK... It helped save me almost 3GB space! I didn’t know there were so many duplicated files in my computer! Anyway this app is gr8 and very easy to use it. Highly recommand this app :) If there is any problems i will write another review but yeah so far so good ! xD

I can’t remember the last time I took the time to write a review for an app (shameful, I know), but I just freed up over 40 gigs of dupes from my precious hard drive (I upgraded to an SSD but couldn’t afford more storage). This process took *maybe* 15 minutes. No more than that, though. I am absolutely ELATED! After having tried (and paid for some) multiple duplicate cleaner applications that left me with pangs of fear, utter confusion, and aggravation, I reluctantly decided to give this FREE app a try. Impressed hardly scratches the surface of how I feel about this application. Unlike the majority of the apps you’ll find in the app store who promise to deliver efficient duplicate eradication for one particular kind of files (one for music, one for photos, etc.), this application covers all elements. After tinkering around, I found that it was possible to scan my entire hdd by clicking on “select folder”, highlighting the home folder for my hdd in the left sidebar, and wallah! Everything in one clean shot. I did carefully scan over the selections, but everything was so clearly organized and cleanly displayed; it didn’t take long at all. I also double checked a couple of files by clicking on the “info” option to be sure that each duplicate file was the same size. In other apps, particularly for photos, it would pull up all of the duplicates for one particular photo, but it would place thumbnails, faces, and photos that had different resolutions… so sorting through everything was a clustermuck… and I was always scared to death that I missed something and might possibly be deleting extremely precious memories. That being said, this app does not do that. It strictly locates proper dupes and cleaning them up is an absolute BREEZE with the “multi-select duplicates” option. I LOVE YOU, PCVARK. I LOVE YOU.

Not opening iPhoto or Photos files to search duplicates is a problem for me, most of the waste is there in my mac. Than make some MBs free, mostly .pdf or other .doc isn’t such a terrific things for me. I guess for those more into “files" than pics can have more advantage in using this App.

If you need a cleaner (like I did) GET THIS ONE. Saved me GB’s of useless files that somehow ended up on my Mac. I’m not happy with the way El Capitan stores stuff and could not figure out why I had so many duplicate files but Duplicates Cleaner dumped all the extras for me. While a few GB’s isn’t a lot, I was happy to recover the space but happier to not have to see the same file stored somewhere else. A satisfied user.

Price is right, and seems to do a through enough job scanning. Good options for including or excluding directories, and organizes the duplicates list based on broad file types—video, music, photos, files, etc. One issue I have is that you cannot resize the app window so that it is easier to see and compare the different directory paths where the duplicates are found. The second issue is that once you hit the clear duplicates button you need to rescan your drive. So if you go through and clear out videos before moving onto photos, for example, the app congradulates you on a good job and puts you back into scan for files mode. As fast as this app may be at scanning, scanning 500GB still takes time.

Cleaned out a ton of multi-replciated photos the first time and fast. Duplicate Detective was not cutting it at all after numerous tries…dumped it.
