Thanks!!!

Simple, Quick, and Easy!

Doesn’t look into PHOTOS app from Apple

You cannot point to the Apple app called “Photos” (fka: iPhotos). Photos is grayed-out when trying to select it under Applications.

Great!

Works great. Very accurate. Itt doesn’t use file names.

duplicate cleaner ratings

Dup cleaner got right to the point of duplicate issues. The dup app did exactly what i was hoping it would do! Cleaned duplicates and freed up some disk space. Loving it!

Cleaned 1GB of duplicates...

Yay! Most duplicate cleaners only SHOW you the duplicate files, and allow you to select “find in folder” but don’t just make them easily selectable, unless you buy the full version. Thanks for being free! I cleaned just under 1GB of computer data as I tend to download things several times or not realize I already have the item stored. I also like that by hovering the cursor on the file identified, it shows you the folder pattern. That way I can see what is truly saved in 2 separate places, such as my computer pictures and a folder I’m working on to send someone. That way I can omit the items that, while serving as duplicates, are not just existing more than is necessary. I also like the select all and deselect all option, cos clicking repetitively on the box for each file would drive me crazy. Thanksssss, please keep this app free.

Great - better if it showed full path

It found everything (I think) - I couldn’t tell because it doesn’t show full paths. This is especially problematic when files cannot be erased because of permission problems.

BEWARE OF 24/7 SUPPORT may have cost me $350 or more!!!

I bought this program, and did a scan of my drive to find duplicates - it said it found 114GB. I have a lot of movies and pics - so maybe? It didn’t seem like there was a quick way for me to really compare the files to make sure I was really deleting a duplicate, but there was a 24/7 phone number, so I called it. Worst mistake I have made in quite a while. I think I was talking with someone from another country (the 3 people I spoke had heavy accents and I had trouble understanding them) — There were THREE handoffs from one person to another. Again — ALL I WANT TO KNOW IS HOW CAN I TELL IF THE FILE IS A DUPLICATE! The next thing I know they ask permission to connect into my computer - seemed odd, but whatever. The next thing I know they are opening system preferences - I’m not IT person, so what do I know. He tells me (from system preferences) that someone can break in and take my ID, etc. Okay, I am a now really concerned. So he starts telling me they can fix this. I said I will have it looked at (thinking I can go to genius bar at Apple Store) - but he said it has to be a level 3 programmer/engineer. HERE IS WHERE I REALLY GET STUPID!! I give my credit card number to approve them fixing this risk!! it’s $350!!! Again, all I want is to know how to make sure a file is a duplicate! He keeps going on about the risk — then he asks how many computers I have — Huh??? He starts telling me that he can cover my computer for 1 year, but wait — because I have 3 computers - he can give me 2 years on all three computers — Really!?!? — I just want to find out how to find duplicates. Finally reality returns - I tell him I am not comfortable with this and I want to stop now. “You can’t stop it, our engineer is already at work fixing your computer. So I say — tell him to stop NOW! I DO NOT WANT THIS!! At some point after I said NO — I SAW THE CURSOR MOVE AND CLICK AN APPROVAL BUTTON, THAT THE CUSTOMER WOULD NORMALLY CLICK — At the most the engineer may have had 7 to 10 minutes of time, but he kept telling me he could not stop the engineer. So told him that I CAN STOP IT I AM GOING TO POWER DOWN THE COMPUTER. He kept protesting that I can’t do that, becasue the engineer had already started and he told me I agreed. Yes, to my shame, I got sucker in by fear of a vulnerable computer that I also use for work -- and some fast talking. But a person has the right to stop something when it becomes clear that you are being taken for a ride. He got loud and kept telling me I can’t do it — so I tried to shut it down, but couldn’t get control of the mouse, which kept moving. So I just held the power button down until the computer shut down. He kept talking so I hung up. We have called Visa, but will have to wait until it officially posts. Ahhhhh. I have not idea if the service company is part of the company that makes the sofware, or they are just hired help for support. I am stunned. Just wanted a quick answer about duplicates and I get the HARD SELL! I just noticed the Dupicates cClearner support link on this text box! THAT AIN’T HAPPENING — I think I need to take my dog for a walk to calm down….. I don’t know if the support is directly affiliated with the software company, but I am DONE with it!
